In September 2018 we presented our martian rover in European Rover Challenge. European Rover Challenge is one of the biggest international space and robotics event in the world. ERC gathers not only specialists in planetary robotics and Mars rovers designers but also representatives of science and business, the new-tech sector and the general public interested in the development of science and new technologies.
70 teams from around the globe participated in the competition. The competition was held in Starachowice, Poland. It was a 3 day competition where our rover have to demonstrate its full functioning by performing different tasks which includes Autonomous Traversal, Equipment Servicing, Delivery Task and Science Task.
It was completely a new experience for me. Teams from all around the world participated in these competition. Though other teams were competing against us I got to learn a lot from them. I got to see other team’s rover and talking to them about their journey I learned about many new technologies which they were using and I have never heard of. The whole experience in total was amazing and full of energy. When you are competing on a global level you need to work super hard. I have poured one year working on various subsystem of the rover and here I was competing against best rover teams of the world.
The road certainly wasn’t an easy one and had roadblocks all the way yet we certainly proved that no obstacle is bigger than our determination to achieve great height. Our hardwork and many sleepless nights begged us 2nd position in Asia and 18th worldwide.
